Speakers: Heather & Andy Erickson

Andy & Heather Erickson are Wright State U alumni (Raider Up!) and have served as Chi Alpha missionaries at their alma mater and across Dayton for the last 12 years.

They are committed to discipling university students through the intersection of Gospel and culture. Their favorite conversations are about Jollof rice, the move of the Holy Spirit, cross cultural missions, building teams and Andy's latest backyard sports fad.

Together with their three kids, they open their home & lives to live in community in order to build God's family.

BREAKOUTS

9:45am -10:30am

  • The Bible and the gospel have plenty to say about dating, along with Godly and healthy sex with your spouse. Let’s dig in.

  • There are six areas that every healthy leader should be focusing on in their life. If you are looking to take your leadership and spiritual life to the next level, this is for you!

  • Called as both a disciple of Jesus and pioneer missionary, the apostle Paul valued his personal, daily prayer language to the point he’d say, “I thank God I speak in tongues more than you all.”(I Cor. 14:18). In this session we will look at 6 key words in the book of Acts that help us grasp God’s practical purposes for your prayer language.

  • Jesus looked at the heart and didn't stop loving someone even though they didn't look like Him, think like Him, act like Him, the list goes on. Jesus told His disciples, "...love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another..." Sheeesh, that's hard, right? This breakout is an open space to engage in the difficulties we might face and the concepts from truth of loving others like God loves us.

  • When it feels like your thoughts are running rampant with worry, depression, temptation, and the things of this world, how do you set your mind on things that are lovely, true, and pure? Let’s take a look into how to take our thoughts captive and have a mind in love with God.

  • Humility runs contrary to everything the world exudes. It is the most challenging characteristic to regularly walk in, yet is the catalyst for God's grace. Jesus and Satan's opposing natures demonstrate why humility is the right path.

  • Jesus came to take our sins away, but what if there is something good you want, that God doesn’t want for you? If it’s not sinful, does that mean it’s wrong to do? Find out what God has to say about surrendering the good things of life and how we can truly go deep with the Lord.

10:45am -11:30am

  • Gaining confidence in hearing God’s voice and knowing His will.

  • How aware are you of what is going on around you? Pick up on social cues? React well in tense situations? Answers to questions like these make up what is called Emotional Intelligence. We will look at and discuss ways to help improve our EQ so you can build better relationships, share the Gospel better, and be confident in your future career.

  • Learn how to build big worship culture with little.

  • How do different cultures around the world inform us on following Jesus contextually here on earth, and how it relates to experiencing Kingdom culture.

  • What the life of someone who is in a relationship with Jesus should look like and some of the ways we fooling ourselves into thinking we are putting Him first.

  • As a college student, I was bound by lust and sexual addiction, but the Lord broke these addictions in my life. Many desire to be free from sin, but continue to be characterized by it. Though we want to be free, temptation continues to have power over us. We experience years of fighting sin without progress. We repent for years over the same issues, but fall back into sin. These are strongholds. The Lord wants to break these permanently in our lives. There is no quick fix, but the Lord is ready to help us conquer these strongholds for good

  • “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:12) What is spiritual warfare and how are we to walk in victory?
